Carrie Prejean and Miss USA
Carrie Prejean was a participant in the beauty contest in 2009. She expressed her disinclination toward gay marriage, which angered the judges immensely. This led to a sizeable public attack from a celebrity blogger, Perez Hilton. Prejean won second place for Miss California, then went on a talking tour to tout her anti-gay marriage stance.
There was a set of modeling photos in skimpy lingerie which had surfaced, so the Miss USA pageant officials decided to fire Prejean. They said those photos were a breach of contract. Angered by her being fired, she decided to sue the pageant. In return, the pageant sued her back for $5,200 she received for breast implant augmentation. The cases were suddenly settled when TMZ announced it and mentioned a video of Carrie Prejean that was too hot to air.
